Zooids are often part of a community that functions as a whole, rather than as individual beings. The 1913 version of Webster’s Dictionary defines a zooid as “An organic body or cell having locomotion” or “an animal in one of its inferior stages of development.” The forms in this series are made from recycled human clothing, animated with air, and made to mimic microscopic life. Though their movements are completely random, their shapes interact, exhibiting life-like personalities that the observer can recognize.
